Animals are the most worshiped thing on this planet. I have tales about the animals around me and my pets on this blog. You will find articles on animal health and well being and some observations that I have made. I also share some of the Animal Advocacy groups and their news and information too.
This little guy, well I should say big guy because he last weighed in a year ago and 14.5 pounds. He is a tad heavier than that right now. My husband is home sick and I didn't want him in the picture but....this is amazing that Sidney is up in his lap. He has been in his lap now for abut an hour. I love seeing and watching how Sidney has really progressed here with us. He started out being thrown into our house that had a dog and several cats already. He was scared of anything and everyone and all the other animals. In his state of mind he didn't trust anything or anyone and rightly so. He was being abused, kicked, shoved around and scared to pieces by another dog that loved to tree cats. The first main thing that I had to fix, was his biting all the time. I understood why he did that. In his mindset he was going to bite it before it bit him. That took months, but I did get him to calm down and accept love.
Charlie
He now likes to "play" with Charlie verses when he first was introduced to him and he fought with him. During this time that he has been here Charlie lost a couple of pounds. That is a good thing, but Sidney put on those ponds. Hahaha! He still is very active. He is about 4 1/2 years old now and I just love him to bits! Sidney has an idea how the day is supposed to go. Many times it doesn't go like he thinks that it should. The moment that I get out of bed, everyone follows me to the kitchen where I keep the containers of food, one for Duke's food and the other for the cats food. This is where it gets tricky, for me. I pour some food in the dishes on the shelves in the living room. Frederick gets on the shelf that is next the the stove. Then Sunshine gets the dish in the corner on the opposite side of the wall in the living room. That is not too bad, but when I go to fill the dish up in the office that is on the widow seal........Sidney runs for it and runs in front of me most times. I have now changed my steps in that. I will wait for him to run in front of me first, then go pour the food in the dish. That works 85% of the time. After those are all filled and they have eaten it is now time to let out the girls; Shadow and Sunshine ,
Frederick
and then I let our Frederick, the newest member of the family a short while later.
I am then able to sit down with my first cup of coffee. Oh but Sidney has other ideas. We must play. He loves the feather on the end of the string at the end of the stick. My word he does love to jump up and he jumps up pretty high. We have to do that for about 15 minutes, then he stops and goes to lay down.
Sometimes Charlie gets in the act too but he would rather the red dot toy. The red dot toy only gets taken out when it is a cloudy day because they can't see the dot when it is sunny. It gets washed out by the sun. They both love that toy and I could play with them for a lot longer than 15 minutes. Charlie doesn't really go chasing the red dot, but Sidney loves to chase it....on the carpet. He really doesn't like it on the floor too much so I keep it on the carpet.
Sunshine
Shadow
Sidney has really learned to love it here even with the girls that like to hiss at him and try to take his face off with their claws. They don't hurt each other though as I trim their claws about once a month, sometimes twice a month just so they don't hurt each other and me too.
Little Bits
Just recently in the last 3 or 4 months has wanted to sit on the chair with me and he has allowed me to pick him up. He didn't like that before and would squeak at me to let him down. It is a rare occurrence to see him sitting in my husband's lap, so when he was on his lap my husband said "Look What I Have." I just had to get a picture of that. Sidney is so precious and beautiful too and he has adapted very nicely and I am loving it to see a happy cat.
This is a story about one of my cats who suffered with this disease, Houdini.
Plasmacytic
Stomatitis An Auto-Immune Disorder In Cats
What
is it
Plasmacytic Stomatitisattacks the lining sheath of
the cat’s teeth. What I was told was that when a cat gets an infection in one
of the cat’s teeth that their immune system tries to eradicate the infection.
That is what it is supposed to do, but in this case the immune system doesn’t
know when to stop and continues on to attack the good parts of the teeth. The
cat’s gum’s become red and very sore. This strain is rare.
There are other
stomatitis diseases but this is one of them that are incurable at this time. They don't know if it is genetic or what switch that they can turn off or even
why it only attacks some cats but not others. It is like cancer in humans, they
just don't know right now. No other cat that I have or has been around has
this. His mother doesn't, his brother doesn't so it doesn't seem to be genetic.
The other cats that I have don't have it either. Just Houdini had it and it was
not contagious. It truly is a mystery.
How Houdini Earned His Name
Houdini
got his name because he earned it. When they were born I had them all in a very
large doge crate, the kind that is a cage and not all plastic. It has a shelf
and I put that in it for mom to get away from her kittens when she was weening
them. On the back end I attached a large box for her to nest in and have her
kittens in private. Well when Houdini was about 3 months old he would get out
and I would see him playing around the box. None of the other kittens were out.
So I put him back in. I turn around to go back in the house and turn right
around to find him out again and the others still in the box. I put something
heavy on the box lid so he wouldn’t escape. He still got out. To this day I
still don’t know how he was getting out and the others not follow him. So he
was named Houdini.
When
I finally realized Houdini had something wrong with him it was during the
winter months. I noticed that he would come up on the deck and lay on the
heating pad that I had out there to keep their water from freezing. He would
lay on the side that the dish was not on. In the beginning I thought nothing of
it because the cats took turns laying on it. Sometimes they would not go under
the house where I have a light there that keeps the temps above freezing. They
prefer to be out in the open. I also know this is when they lay in the sun and
it seems to fill them up with warmth that lasts for hours. They seem to play
more after getting this sun energy power and filling up their batteries. They
would run around the yard and up and down trees. I would just sit on the deck
and watch them. After running for an hour or so they would come up and nuzzle
me for some human attention.
Alternative Treatments
After feeding them one day I noticed Houdini jumping away from
the dish after taking a few kibbles. At first I thought a bug had bothered him.
A few moments later I saw him do it again. That was when I knew something was
wrong.
I never
saw him get any tooth infections and this Stomatitis came on very suddenly. So
I brought him in and put him in another crate but a smaller one. At first he
made a fuss but that was short-lived because he was in so much pain then that
he would permit me to do just about anything to him. I gave him ¼ of a baby
aspirin because I didn’t have anything else and as it happens this was after Vet
hours. I started him on 3 drops of Oil
of Oregano (supposed to kill viruses, fungus and bacteria) in about
10 drops of Olive Oil. I gave him about 6 drops of this twice a day. I tried
this for a week and nothing was happening and upped the dose and doubled the
Oil of Oregano. It did seem to help and he was also calmer because it also
sedates them a bit. At this time he was eating pate canned cat food that I had
mashed with a fork to make smoother. I added ¼ of a pill of “B” Complex because
I had read that they will get those types of infections if they are missing
vitamin “B” in their diet. I also added Taurine and Glucosamine to the food. It
wasn’t working enough. I had been doing this for a month. Now he inadvertently
became an indoor cat through all this.
Becoming an Indoor Cat
I had to do something so I called the Vets and get an
appointment for the next day. He was put on Prednisone and antibiotics and a
pain killer. Now this cat has to stay in that cage until all the meds are gone
because I cannot run around trying to catch him every time I had to give him
the liquid. I have 3 other cats inside. I also made sure that what he had was
not contagious. This form is not and is cat specific. I felt so bad for him. He
was in so much pain, but the pain killer and prednisone was working and we all
thought this would be the end of it. So I let him back outside, where he really
wanted to be with his brother. About 12 days later he is not eating again. He
now just stands over the dish of dry food and stares at the food. So I bring
him back in and call the Vet and we put him on another round of the same stuff.
Again he did the same thing as the first time. Getting him to eat mashed pate canned
food was difficult too. He just could not get food past the painful gums. So I
was putting his food and half a can of water in the food processor and pureeing
it. Sometimes I had to coax him and tell him to take it slow. This little boy
was starving right in front of my eyes. This time the vet put him on a month of
antibiotics, no prednisone or pain killers. They also cleaned his teeth to see
if that was the problem. It wasn’t and I had the choice of them pulling all his
teeth or keeping him on meds for the rest of his live. After eating he would
always want to come and sit on my lap and lay his head on my chest. Sometimes
he liked to be rocked and sometimes not. Sometimes he liked to just lay next to
me. When he was in lot of pain he would bump his head hard up against the
bottom of my chin. A Very Hard Decision
We went on vacation and I had the vet board him. The day before,
I had made up all his food for them to feed him. While at the hotel I get a
call from my daughter, who had our dog for the week, and she told me what the
Vet was doing with my little boy, Houdini. He wasn’t eating and they didn’t
want to force him. They gave him prednisone and pain killers and he was not
responding. I can understand that because between the time of the last round of
his treatment and taking him to the vets I had given him half of a baby aspirin
instead of the quarter and it did nothing for the pain.
Sitting in the hotel room alone I had to make the decision of
pulling all Houdini’s teeth or something else. I had tried everything from
alternative to natural to chemical treatments to heal this little cat and not a
thing was working. I even changed his food to Science Diet so that I could
possibly wean him off of canned food. I prayed and I even used my "healing
touch" and they did nothing either. I thought about all this in the few
hours that I was in the hotel alone. My husband was at a meeting. It was the
hardest and saddest hours of my vacation. I called the vet back and set up a
time to put him down. It was a very difficult thing to do but the best thing
for him. I was just keeping this boy in pain and I just could not and didn’t
feel it right to keep him that way.
We get
back from vacation and we go to the vet to put him down. I did not linger too
much but did let Houdini know that I loved him very much and that I had done
everything for him and that he would be going to a place where there was no
pain and that he wouldn't have to worry about eating and being hungry all the
time. The vet took him back to put the IV in him and sedate him a little. I
don’t understand why they have to do that though because I would think that
giving him an overdose in the first place would let him and his body separate.
I pet him for about 5 minutes and told them that I was ready. I never say Good
Bye to them. I told him that He was going to Rainbow Bridge.
This is the third cat that I have had to put down in 2 years.
It doesn't get any easier. I could never be a vet because I could not do
this and not get emotional. One of my dreams in High school was becoming a
Veterinarian. I love animals, domestic and wild. I believe in my
heart that this was a purpose for me. The other profession I wanted to do was nursing.
Well as life would have it I didn't get a *degree in either......but I do
all that within my life without a degree. I became a mom and had kids and part
of that role is nursing them back to health. I have had many cats and
dogs, bunnies, hamsters, goats, ducks and chickens to take care of too.
So I got a lot of Animal husbandry through that. Where I live now
the animals come to me and they aren't afraid of me---well except for the feral
cats around here. We have this kind of half joke around here that I feed
all the animals. I do to some extent and I am also known as "The Cat
Lady" around this part of my neighborhood.
My
Houdini
Houdini was just put down in
May of 2011 because he had Plasmacytic Stomatitis.
What a morning! I was sleeping quite comforting in my bed and here I hear a shrill sound in my ear. I barely opened my eyes and here is Little Bits sitting next to me yelling at me to get her some food in her dish. Oh there are other food dishes and they have food in them as well. I told her that in an attempt to get more sleep. She wouldn't have it. So I threw off my nice warm comforter and got out of bed. By then she was in her favorite spot in my office on top of a box. I grabbed her and she pitched a fit and scratched me and put holes in my arm. I put her by one of the other bowls of food, but she wouldn't have that either. Her and I had a time of it this morning. She fled and hid somewhere in the house. The other outdoor cats were waiting on their breakfast too and I had to fill up the bucket that I have in the house with cat food that we store in a large metal trashcan outside.
I feed Frederick first because his dish is on the back deck and he needs to be eating before the other cats on the front deck....so he doesn't fight them. He is not fixed and we cannot even afford the discounted fee they have with Spay Today. My husband wants me to take him to the animal shelter but I cannot see him being stuck in a cage for months until someone adopts him. He has all his maleness and fights with my other male cat, Mikey...who has been fixed a long time ago.
I get all the cats fed and even fresh food in the dish that Little Bit's eats from. I make my coffee in between all that hustle and bustle. I get my first cup of that hot delicious wake me up further liquid. The creamer that I use to get my brain to work is Peppermint Mocha. It is true that Peppermint gets your brain started.
On my way to sit outside on my back deck and pet Frederick and I stand at the banister and look over and into the woods, when I hear a commotion going on in the woods. I look hard to see what it is and then I hear the noise. Turkeys! A few of them it sounds like. I try to see what they look like and how many there are, but alas I do not. They were running down the ravine line and through the woods behind my house. It only took a few minutes until I could hear them go down into the ravine in the back of my house, some 200+ feet to the small stream that divides the properties up and then silence. I know if is Autumn now and the calendar doesn't have to be when the official start is. Oh and the crows are back too! They come and sit and cackle in the trees in the beginning of fall and then again in the beginning of spring.
Meanwhile Duke has gotten up and I didn't hear him. Sometimes he is so quiet. I tell Frederick that I am going inside now and open the door and walk through to the living room to find a few turds on the floor. This is the third time in about a week and a half that he has had uncontrolled bowel movements. He is getting old and the last time that we took him to the vet she told us that we are just wanting to make him comfortable. Of course I cried there. That was about 4 months ago. We decided that it would be time to put him down when he couldn't take his walks anymore. That is going to be one sad day and I don't know how Charlie is going to react with that. Charlie and He are almost inseparable at times.
The Season is changing rapidly here. The trees are just about to change colors, but not just yet. We have a couple of day or maybe even a couple of weeks before the get their amber, orange and scarlet colors.
I wonder what kinds of events we will have this coming fall season.
What is Vertigo In Dogs And In Cats and
What Are The Signs
Duke Allen 15 years old June 2015
This story happened about a year ago. I had it on another site and now I have brought his story here. Everyone should at least know what this insidious disease or condition is and learn the warning signs. I thought that my dog
was having a stroke. He was fine in the early hours when my husband takes him
for a walk to do his business at 4:30 in the morning. By 6:30 in the morning he
was trying to get up and had trouble getting up and staying up. His left eye
was twitching and his pupil was going back and forth.
I got him to go
outside because he had to pee. That was odd in itself because after he does his
business at 4:30 in the morning he usually sleeps about 4 hours after that.
Another thing that was odd was that he could not get out of the bedroom. Now, I
heard him hitting the wall and did not pay any mind to it because he usually
does that in his sleep when he is dreaming.
He has some arthritis in his back and I also
just thought that he was stiff that morning. I also thought that rubbing and
massaging the area would help him move a bit better. It did not do anything. So
he went out and pee’d. It took me about 20 minutes for me to get him in the
house. We have a ramp that goes from the driveway to the porch and it was hard
fro me to guide him to the ramp. I did manage to get him on the ramp but then
he fell over and fell of the other side of the ramp and landed up against the
half barrel that the rose bush is planted in. I could not figure out how I was
going to get him back on the ramp at that point. I thought for sure that we
were going to lose him.
Finally I got him in the house and called the
Veterinarian and ask them what the signs of a stroke are and explained to them
what Duke was doing or going through. They told me to bring him in as soon as
possible. So I called my husband at work and had to tell them that it was an
emergency and that my husband had to come home right away because of Duke. So
he came home and we took Duke to the Veterinarian. When we got there they did
some blood work and examined Duke and came out and told us that he did not have
a stroke. They told us that he had Vertigo or Idiopathic Vestibular Disease. It
happens more so in cats than in dogs. Idiopathic means that they know not what
it is from or what causes it. It is also the same as in humans. It is not transferable
from humans to cats and dogs nor is it vice versa.
There is a resemblance to a stroke but that is
a vascular problem and is very rare in dogs and cats. That is completely
different than anything dealing with the Vestibular. Vestibular pertains to the
part of the inner ear that controls balance.
Difference Between A
Stroke And Vertigo
STROKE
VERTIGO
Unable to move certain muscles
such as head or facial
Stumbling
Loss of eye movement on opposite
side of brain that it has occurred
Motion Sickness
Looks as if they are drunk when
walking
Eyes are moving back and forth or
up and down or even round and round rapidly
Seizures
Going in circles
crossed eyes
Tilting of the head to one side
Twisting of head backwards or
upwards
Difficulty controlling head and
facial muscles
Tremors
Dizziness and Vomiting
body is rigid
If paw is bent backwards the
animal will right it back.
When paw is bend backwards it will
not straighten itself forward
Irreversible damage
Sudden onset that lasts between 24
to 72 hours.
Death within a couple of weeks
**This is why it is so
very important to call your Veterinarian and get your pet there as soon as
possible. They symptoms are so close that for owners it is hard to make a self diagnoses.
Some causes of
vestibular disease are
Tumor
Middle Ear Infection
Brain Lesion
Idiopathic and or virus.
Treatments
Middle Ear is treated for up to 8 weeks with antibiotics.
Surgery may be required to drain the infection from the tympanic bullae.
Repeatedly cleaning of the ear can also cause such infection of the ear.
Tumor MRI and then surgery.
Idiopathic often just motion sickness (meclizine) medications are given.
You can purchase these in a drug store. Over the counter is the most economical
and the active ingredient is the same found in Bonine. The package says that it
is "less" drowsy. It does not say that it is "non" drowsy.
I got that wrong and yes it does make them sleepy and therefore they will not
eat or drink. Keep your pet in a quiet and dark place and let your dog sleep as
much as they want.
Natural Calming
Substances
There are a few
natural calming herbs that you can use for your dog or cat that is going
through this very distressing disease/condition. The are:
Valerian, Camommile,
Hops, Passionflower, Skullcap, for older dogs.
Other drugs that can be used are: Tryptophan,
GABA can be used in overwhelmed dogs.
Feeding and watering Duke with a Turkey Baster
Vestibular Disease comes on quickly and it
often leaves as quick as it came. Its course runs about a week with marked
improvement each day.may take up to a week to heal. Though it took months for Duke to get out of this totally. This disease is the same as
the one that humans get with the same causes, treatments, medications and
duration. It is often more prevalent in older dogs and cats then in younger
ones. In cats there has been an abundance of Idiopathic Vestibular Disease in
the North Eastern United States.
Day 2 of Duke's
Vertigo
Well this morning at
4:30 he was not going to move at all. He looked just like he did yesterday. It
took all of the two of us to get him outside and then inside. Though he pee’d
before he got off the ramp and that was what he needed to do. So I laid on the
couch until he woke up, which was about 8:00. I somehow had to get a pill into
him. It was the motion sickness pill. That wasn’t too hard because he could not
move his head very far. I knew when he swallowed it by the smell on his
breath…raspberry. That is a chewable one that tastes like raspberry. That was
done and I felt that I actually accomplished something with him, even if it was
small.
I had a very difficult time getting him
outside. He worked against me all the way. Then he did what I did not want him
to do and that was fall off the deck in the same way that he did the day
before. He landed right down near that deck on the inside. I came back in the
house to take a breather and then went right back out and I did get him out of
there and into the yard. There is where I left him.
Drinking and Eating
Now I have a mountain to climb with him and
that is to get him to drink and eat. I have tricks up my sleeve with that and
thank goodness that I have lots of experience with that one. I have raised many
kinds of animals and know many tricks to get them to drink and eat. So I looked
around my house trying to find something that I could use to get some water in
him and maybe some food as well. I know how to put food in a blender and make
it almost liquid. Well I got my Turkey baster for that. It has a long enough
tube to hold water or liquefied food in it and I am able to put it in the back
of his mouth right in back of his teeth and I can squirt the water or food
right down his throat. I just got some water down there. So that is done.
Tomorrow should be way better than today, but
first let’s get through today.
Day Three
Well he drank some
water all by himself last night and even ventured outside to do his business
without falling all over the place. That was last night before we went to bed.
Today he wanted to go
outside as soon as I came out of the bedroom, which was a very good sign. He
even went outside without hurting himself or me pulling him out there. I was
pleasantly surprised that he even got off the ramp without rolling over or
losing his balance. Now he is sleeping in his most favorite spot in the whole
world...under the deck. He still did not eat his kibble though. That is not
surprising as he doesn't always eat that. I already gave him his motion
sickness pill this morning and he is a bit drowsy with that. I will get him
back him later today and then try to see if he will eat canned food right from
the can. I hope that he does.
So far so good!
Update on Duke 9
months later
It took six months for
Duke to get over his Vertigo and to begin to eat anything. We did end up making
him people food, which was NOT table scraps as most people think of it. Table
Scraps ARE bad for any pet and those cause some undesirable conditions for the
pet. Often people associate anything that is called "people food"
with something that is bad.
I made his some
Chicken and Rice and added vegetables to it and it was his soup kind of thing.
Then he didn't like things all mixed together and so I gave him his chicken a
rice in his bowl and the vegetables on another plate. I come to find out that
he just loves Rice! Silly dog. He never used to like it but now he wants some
of the rice, that I make for us, too.
He still has his bouts
with the arthritis and kicking out his leg once in a while and we have some
pain killers for that from the Vet. Those are now considered a "controlled
substance", but the good ole' FDA. Oh well, Duke doesn't get those that
often anyway.
Dogs and Cats do get
over this. It is very scary and horrible to watch and experience. It just takes lots of time and
lots of patience and lots of love...and figuring out what they will eat because
it will be different than what they liked before.
I get most of Dukes Meds and other stuff at
1800PetsMeds.
The next update on Duke is on my post http://allmyanimaltales.blogspot.com/2015/06/news-from-allens-pets-june-14-2015.html To learn more about Duke Read DUKE'S STORY
Sidney has a problem and I do not like it one bit. He needs to curb his desire to bat through the screen door. He only does this when Frederick is on the other side, on the back porch at breakfast and dinner times. I thought that I broke him of this but it doesn't appear so. Yesterday morning I was going to go out to feed Frederick and opened the door. Now Sidney has been good at moving from the door when I go to open the screen door, but not yesterday. I wasn't wearing any slippers or shoes. Well he smacked the bottom of my foot and his claw did make a puncture wound. Oh My did that hurt! I was bleeding all over the place. I was trying not to walk on the Asian rug that we have in the living room. I did smack Sidney in the head and then again on his behind. I wanted to let him know that was not appropriate to do that. Back to square one on this!
I have also been working on him to not go on or site on the small table in between the futon and the rocking/recliner chair. I have to be consistent for this to work. Sometimes he will get on it when I am busy doing from my cup or eating something or looking for a channel or program to watch on the TV.
He is so cute though when he kind of like purrs. It's not a purr perse' but he voices his thoughts to me by a rrrrrrrr that is trilled. I don't know of any way else to describe it. He KNOWS and UNDERSTANDS what I am telling him. I also use the ACK noise and I point my finger at him. He understands what that means as he will cower down. Then he will test me and get up and put his paw on the table and then I point and he will make that sound again and take his paw off the table. We will go back and forth with this for about 10 minutes. He does not win. He does get on the table once in a while now, but all I have to do is point my finger and say ACK!
He is slowly becoming a lap cat. I think that is what he really wants when he tries to get up on the table. I also noticed that why the lazer toy was there, it seemed like he wanted to get to that and have me play with him. I put it up and he cannot get to it. That may have been part of the problem, but he now looks at the table as if to test me again and I just say NO. He then goes away.
This may take a long time, becasue it has become a test of wills. I will aslo keep the broom near the back door each and ever time that I need to go out or come in from there.

I haven't even had my first cup of coffee. There was a lot of commotion in the living room area and I was not even awake just yet. I thought that Mikey was trying to go poop in the litter box. Boy was I surprised when I did get up about 10 minutes later!
There was this awful smell looming in the air of the house. I tried to see if they had used the litter boxes and there was some in one but not that bad of a smell.
Charlie
Though Charlie makes an awful smell and we KNOW when he has pooped in the litter box. That smell comes out before he is even done with his dirty job. His poop is distinctive and makes your eyes water. Nope it was that.
I hear Mikey screaming and yelling and I try to find out where he is because it sure did sound like he was in a mess of trouble. He was under the kitchen sink and trying to get out of it but got his leg stuck. Before I got to where he was I saw the trouble and I didn't want to see that kind of trouble before I had my first cup of coffee.
Duke 4 4 2015 Easter 2015
Good thing is was not on our Asian rug, Some was but it was more solid than the other stuff by the back door, in front of Duke's Food bowl and trailing into the kitchen. He had pooped in the Klaw Kontrol Bag.
He was under the kitchen sink and trying to get out of it but got his leg stuck. (We don't have wooded doors in our kitchen. We have curtains instead.) I cleaned up the floor, but the more that I cleaned up, the more I saw him leave it behind him. I knew he had tried to go poop in the litter box, we have four of them, but that red cat sak just was in the way.
I knew what I had to do and I also knew that it was not going to be fun, for Mikey or for me, but it had to be done. I had to do this alone, but it would have been great if I had some help. That never happens because I am the only one home with all the cats and dogs all day long. My husband leaves for work just before 5 in the morning and doesn't usually get home until after 3 in the afternoon. Sometimes it is more like 4 or 5 in the afternoon depending on if he has errands to do. So I fill the kitchen sink up with warm water and some Dawn dish washing liquid. I have to clean up around the sink area as it is rare that I do not have anything on or around my kitchen sink. I do occasionally but since we live here and I am here all day and have all these things to do and write, it gets to be a catch all. You can see why in the picture.
So I get the sink half full and go and feed Sunshine,
who is on the front porch and Frederick whom is waiting to be fed on the back porch. Oh it is hard getting back inside from the back porch because they are french doors and a sliding screen door on the outside. Mikey is fast enough to come greet me, actually almost run over me to get back outside. He slipped out the other day but I caught him with the handles that are on the top of the Klaw Kontrol Bag. No way was I going to lose him before I get that sore to heal up some.

Bath time! I put his back end in the water and of course he fights with me. It is so easy with that cat sak on and I wash his backside off. He must have a cut or sore or did something to his tail because every time that I touch it or lift it he yells. I don't have the time or a way to see what is down there because I needed another person to hold him up. That was not happening. So I wash with a washcloth and think that all the poop is out of and off of him. I put him in the other side of the sink to spray him off and find that I didn't get it all and he is pitching a fit. He has pooped on one side of it and on the same side that his sore is on! There is a turd in there and I had to get it out without getting him out of it. So I tried to turn the cat sak inside out, it was not easy and I didn't get it all out, but I did get the turd out. I sprayed it really good. Well as good as I could get being as I am only one person doing it and need 3 or four hands which I don't have. The water was coming out clean. I dried him off the best that I could and put him back in the large crate until he dried off, which will be a few hours. I did feed him and he is set for the day for now anyway.
I must tell you that since I brought him in Thursday, he has not had a bowel movement and he was on anti-biotics. He stool was a little loose and I think that was his problem If it had been hard I think the stool would have pushed itself out through the back end of the cat sak.
This is just the very beginning of my day and wonder what the rest of this Monday is going to bring.
Well, now I can go sit down and have my cup of coffee.
